yoga teacher, student, nature lover, world traveler.
Jess found yoga when she was studying at drama school after her mum suggested she attend a class to help with flexibility for dancing. As a classic just-moved-out-of-home young adult, she instantly resisted the idea, eventually giving in and trying my very first vinyasa class.
She was hooked!
(But no one tell her mum!)
A diagnosis of a chronic illness soon followed during her final year of her Bachelor's degree (that makes it sound really fancy ... it's in musical theatre) and yoga was her lifeline. Initially finding her practise through a desire to be more flexible (sound familiar!?) she had discovered many more benefits of mindfulness and yoga off the mat.
She completed her 200HR yoga teacher training in New Zealand and since graduating in 2015 has taught at various locations around New Zealand.
Throughout her teacher training she realised my dharma ("the eternal law of the cosmos") is to tell stories - something that she brings to every yoga class.
An eternal student of yoga and a yin baby at heart, I love coming to my mat for a yin practise or a slow vinyasa flow class.
I aim to bring a sense of positivity and light to every one of my students in every one of my classes and hope that encourage my students to slow down, pause, take a deep breathe and continue with their day mindfully, with kindness and gratitude.
I guide my classes in English, with a touch of Sanskrit and some hands on assists. While I am the guide, I truly believe we are our own best teachers, so I hold a safe space for everyone to explore and play! Because life's too short not to play!
